Description: The Web Caster was an idea percolating in Penelope Baker’s head from her experiences in both the Tomb of Cortez and the ancient maze beneath Espiritu Santo. The gun fires compresses fluid, a formula made of nylon, petroleum extract, and other chemicals that Penelope threw together in a fit of mad genius.
A single charge of the gun creates a temporarily sticky strand of webbing that can be used to attach onto an object or person up to fifty feet away. The webbing dries quickly, adhering to anything touching it in a single round. Afterwards it is no longer sticky but remains securely attached. The gun can hit both an endpoint and starting point, making a tethered line that can then be climbed.
If fired at a person, if the shot hits the target becomes entangled and cannot move or take actions. Each round after the first, the target may attempt a Hard STR check to break free of the webbing. If they succeed, they are no longer entangled.
Using two charges allows one to create a rope bridge across two points of no greater than thirty feet.
Reloading requires a Hard Mechanical Repair roll and 1D4 minutes of work with tools and a canister of “web fluid”.
